Description

To plan, organize, develop, and direct Physical Therapy services in accordance with current applicable Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Rehab Manager/Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

Assist in development of a budget for physical therapy services.

Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Rehab Manager concerning the operation of Physical Therapy.

Assume authority, responsibility and accountability of directing Physical Therapy Service.

Assist in the selection and training of competent Physical Therapy personnel.

Meet with and solicit advice from other department supervisors concerning physical therapy; assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of services.

Attend staff meetings for the purpose of disseminating information pertaining to professional and administrative matters; discussing problems relating to residents and patient; providing professional and non-professional staff education; and discussing departmental activities.

Create a customized / functional treatment plan for individuals. Provide assistance in the interpretation and execution of medical orders as necessary and provide other professional assistance to staff members when needed.

Have knowledge of billing for therapy treatment.

Develop, implement and maintain ongoing Quality Assurance monitors for Physical Therapy Service.

Perform other duties specified by the Rehab Manager.

Qualifications

Graduate of Accredited program in Physical Therapy form a college or university.

Training in rehabilitative and restorative therapy practices. Valid current license to practice in the State of Michigan.

Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of Physical Therapy Service.

Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset.

Must be detailed oriented and have excellent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.

Must be able to use tools and equipment required.

Other job duties as assigned.
